Questions to settle first

What does a preschool cost in Singapore? It depends on the operator and on the child's residency. For a Singapore citizen, full-day child care costs S$610 a month before GST and subsidies at M.Y World and My First Skool, both Anchor Operators, and S$650 at Star Learners and Little Footprints, both Partner Operators. MindChamps, outside both schemes, charges S$2,470 for its full-day Nursery to Kindergarten programme before GST. Subsidies apply to citizens; permanent residents and foreigners pay more, for example S$835 and S$1,188 a month at My First Skool.

Do foreign children pay more at a preschool? Yes, at the five operators on this page whose fees pages give separate rates by residency; MindChamps' fees page gives no separate rate for permanent residents or foreigners. Full-day child care at PCF Sparkletots is S$664.90 a month for a citizen, S$910.15 for a permanent resident and S$1,277.48 for a foreigner, with GST; at M.Y World it is S$610, S$835 and S$1,080 before GST. Star Learners charges permanent residents and foreigners from S$1,100 to S$1,630 for full-day child care.

From what age do preschools take children? From two months, at centres licensed for infant care. M.Y World and Star Learners describe programmes from two months to six years, and PCF Sparkletots takes children from two months. ECDA's register shows which centres hold an infant care licence: 248 of PCF Sparkletots' 337 centres, for example, and 5 of Star Learners' 44.

Which preschools teach Malay or Tamil? ECDA's register lists the second languages each centre teaches. Every centre of the seven operators on this page teaches Chinese; Malay or Tamil is taught as well at some centres of PCF Sparkletots, My First Skool, M.Y World and EtonHouse. PCF Sparkletots offers all three at 178 of its centres.
